Simmons Volleyball Defeats Newbury, 3-0

Freshman outside hitter Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) recorded seven kills, six digs and three service aces, lifting the Sharks volleyball program over Newbury, 3-0, by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-15 on Wednesday night at Pappas Gymnasium.  With the win, the Sharks improve to 8-6 overall, while the Nighthawks fall to 3-14 overall.

Freshman setter Rose Ferreira (Wassenaar, Netherlands) recorded a team high 19 assists, while also adding three service aces and five digs. Freshmen Krista Evans (Florence, Ala.) and and Sara Stewart (Laconia, N.H.) combined for eight kills, three services aces and one block.  Katie Fionte (Andover, Mass.) chipped in with five service aces, five digs and three kills.

"It was a solid performance from the players and a great example how we must trust and believe in one another no matter whose on or off the court," said Head Coach Jason Conetta.  "I am very proud of these young women as they continue to improve everyday."

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, October 11 when travel to New Haven, Conn. for a tri-match with Albertus Magnus and Pine Manor.
