Castigliego Grabs GNAC Co-Pitcher of the Week Accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior right-hander Maddie Castigliego garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week honors for the fifth time this season announced Monday afternoon. She was named Co-Pitcher of the week along side the University of St. Joseph (Conn.)'s pitcher Natalie Amato, who equally had an impressive week.

Guiding the Sharks to a 6-0 week, Castigliego registered 1.97 ERA, while fanning 34 opposing batters. Late in the week against Lasell University and Saint Joseph's College of Maine, the Rhode Island native retired seven hitters in three straight games. Additionally, she helped her own cause at the plate, posting a .556 batting average (10-18) with a triple, two homeruns and 10 RBI, while tallying a 1.524 OPS (.524 OBP, 1,000 SLG). Currently riding an eight-game hitting streak, she launched a pair of homeruns – a new single-game high – in a 10-1 win over Lasell on April 23.

Softball will return to the diamond on Wednesday, April 27 when they travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts for a non-conference doubleheader against MIT. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
