Seven Tapped by Easton/NFCA for Division III Scholar Athlete Recognition

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven Simmons College softball players were named Scholar Athletes by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2015-16 academic year, while the Sharks as a team were recognized as an All-Academic Team.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven Simmons College softball players were named Scholar Athletes by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2015-16 academic year, while the Sharks as a team were recognized as an All-Academic Team.

Softball student-athletes, who have compiled a 3.5 grade point average or higher, were recognized by the NFCA. The Sharks were lauded as an All-Academic Team by virtue of their 3.258 team GPA, which ranked them 71st in all of NCAA Division III.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions. 

Seniors Heather White (Westfield, Mass.) and Carolyn Footer (Wiscasett, Maine), juniors Emma D'Arpino (Johnston, R.I.) and Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.), sophomores Juliet Nelson (Cumberland, R.I.) and Cat Record (North Adams, Mass.) and first year Alexandra Moleski (Bridgeport, Conn.) all received Scholar-Athlete distinction.

The Sharks finished the season with a 13-20 overall record, including 7-15 in league play.
