2013 GNAC Softball Tournament Bracket Released

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Simmons Softball opened their 2014 campaign with a 10-1 victory over The Sage Colleges in five innings and then fell to Haverford College 7-3 in game two at the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.



BOSTON, Mass. -- For the second consecutive week, Lauren Backhaus (Windsor, Conn.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding performance. 

BOSTON, Mass. ? Following the completion of Monday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference softball contests, the 2013 GNAC Softball tournament bracket has been released.

BOSTON, Mass. – Following the completion of Monday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference softball contests, the 2013 GNAC Softball tournament bracket has been released. 

Simmons, the No. 6 seed, finished the regular season 22-12 overall and and 15-9 in the GNAC and will face the #3 University of Saint Joseph (18-6 GNAC) on Wednesday, April 24th.

Finishing with a 20-4 GNAC slate, Norwich University earns the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Suffolk University (11-13) on Wednesday, 4/24 at 4:00 PM.

With a 19-5 GNAC record, Emerson College is the No. 2 seed and will host Rivier University (11-13) on 4/24 at 8:00 PM. University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) owned the tie breaker over Saint Joseph's College (Maine) who also posted an 18-6 mark and the Monks will host No. 5 Johnson & Wales University (16-8).

First round games will be played with the single elimination format. The four teams that advance to the Quarterfinals will then begin a double-elimination tournament format outlined below.

The winner of the 2013 GNAC Softball tournament will earn an automatic qualifying bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Softball championship tournament.
