Simmons freshman Emily Cunningham (Cotuit, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week, for the week ending on April 17, 2011.

Cunningham batted .625 for the weekend with 4 doubles, 1 triple and 8 RBIs to help her team to a 4-2 weekend (3-1 GNAC). She had a .938 slugging percentage and played flawless defense at first base for all 6 games played.
