Thompson, Collier Receive GNAC Honors

Simmons senior Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Player of the Week, and senior Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.) was named GNAC co-Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, March 27, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Simmons senior Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending on April 3, 2011. Additionally, she has been ranked first in the nation among NCAA Division III softball players in Batting Average (.585) and third in On Base Percentage (.611).

Simmons College Softball senior Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) has been named to the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) Division III All-Star First Team.

Simmons Softball?s Annie Thompson ?11 (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball Player of the Year, and also earned ECAC First Team shortstop honors, the conference announced today. This is the first ECAC POY honor for a Simmons Softball student-athlete.

Simmons senior Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Player of the Week, and senior Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.) was named GNAC co-Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, March 27, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Thompson helped the Sharks to a 4-0 GNAC week, batting .667 with 12 hits and seven RBIs. She committed just one error in four games at shortstop, making her both an offensive and defensive threat. This is Thompson's first honor for the 2011 season.

Collier earned a 2-0 record on the mound this week with a 2.33 ERA in 12 innings pitched. She allowed 13 hits, 6 runs and 1 walk, and had 13 strikeouts, holding her opponents to a .245 average. Offensively, Collier averaged .556, with 10 hits, eight RBI, two doubles, two home runs, and slugging 1.000%. This is Collier's first GNAC honor for the season.
