Simmons senior Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball Pitcher of the Week, the ECAC announced on Tuesday. The honor was announced after Collier had a standout week for the Sharks in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.

"Courteney pitched extremely well for us this past weekend; she gave the team a great chance to win every time she was in the circle," said Head Coach Anne Hennigan. "She had superb command of her pitches, she kept the hitters off balance, and she got the big outs when needed. She is very deserving of this award and I am extremely proud of her."

Collier went 3-0 on the week with a 0.44 earned run average, pitching 16 innings and giving up only seven hits and one earned run while striking out 27. She held opponents to a .127 batting average as her team went 6-0. The highlight of the weekend was the shutout of Emerson College in a 2-0 win, where Collier had a solo home run, and batted .500 with a .744 slugging percentage.
