Game One

Simmons bats were quiet and couldn't come up with a hit when there were runners on base. The Monks capitalized on 4 Simmons errors scoring 5 runs, only two of them earned.

SJM scored three runs in the top of the third and added two more in the top of the fifth. The two earned runs came from two perfectly executed squeezes from Liddy van der Linden.

The Sharks only came up with 7 hits, with two each for Emily Colligan (Leominster, Mass.) and Amanda Gould (Fremont, N.H.).

Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.) went the distance for Simmons, taking the loss and allowing only 4 hits and striking out seven.

Game Two

The Sharks were able to push three runs across in game two, but the Monks offense proved too much for Simmons, producing 18 hits in just five innings.

The Monks scored five of their runs in the top of the second off of six hits and three walks. They would add one more in the third and fourth innings and then opened it up, scoring five more in the top of the fifth.

Sami Hodgkins (Putney, Vt.) earned the loss, allowing 18 hits and walking five batters.

Ashley Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) and Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) each earned RBI triples, but that would be the most offense the Sharks would see as they were held to only four hits in the nightcap.

The Sharks will regroup and face off against Pine Manor on Wednesday at 5:00pm, as the GNAC opponents complete the eighth inning international tiebreaker from April 2, which was called due to darkness.
