Three Simmons Softball players received end of the season All-Conference honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Junior pitcher Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.) and junior shortstop Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) earned spots on the First Team, while junior catcher Emily Nalband (Litchfield, Conn.) earned a spot on the Third Team.

Collier played in every game in 2010 except one, starting as pitcher in 15 games and making an appearance in five other games. "Courteney does well under pressure," said Head Coach Anne Hennigan. "When she is on, she wins." In the conference this spring, Collier pitched 96.2 innings, earning an 11-4 record and 1.23 ERA. Collier also earned Pitcher of the Week accolades earlier in the season.

In 115 plate appearances this season, Thompson has just one strikeout, which came in her last regular season at bat. She batted .516 with runners in scoring position and .800 with bases loaded. Thompson earned player of the week earlier in the season when she helped the Sharks to a 6-0 GNAC week with 13 RBIs. "Annie is our best defensive player," said Hennigan. "She is constantly diving and robbing base hits."

As the Sharks' lone catcher, Nalband caught every single game for Simmons in 2010. She allowed just four passed balls all season, and did not commit a single error. At the plate, she ranked third in team batting average, and saw time as Simmons' leadoff hitter and in the lineup's #2 spot, effective in both positions. Nalband earned a .379 on-base percentage and totaled eight sacrifice bunts. "Emily is an unselfish player and is comfortable taking control of the team," said Hennigan.
