#4 Sharks Set for GNAC Tournament

Simmons Softball took both games in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference twin bill on Saturday, sweeping the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College twice in five innings (10-1, 17-0). With the win, the Sharks advance to a strong 14-4 (9-2 GNAC) record, while AMC falls to 0-14 (0-10 GNAC) on the year.

Simmons Softball is poised to enter the Great Northeast Athletic Conference postseason tournament as the fourth seeded team. The Sharks finished the regular conference season with a 16-8 record (21-10 overall), and are scheduled to take on the Cadets of Norwich University on Friday, April 23 at 2:00pm at Rivier College?s facilities.

The top four teams in the eight-team tournament each receive a bye through single elimination-- #1 St. Joseph's (ME), #2 Rivier, #3 Emerson, and #4 Simmons. Rounding out the final four spots in the GNAC tournament are #5 Lasell, #6 St. Joseph's (CT), #7 Mount Ida and #8 Norwich.
