Softball’s Wheeler Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Simmons freshman Ashley Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) has been named great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week.

Simmons freshman Ashley Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) has been named great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week.

In last weekend's four games against GNAC opponents Emerson and Albertus Magnus, Wheeler went 4-9; 0-2 vs. Emerson and 4-7 vs. Albertus Magnus. Wheeler also had 9 RBIs on the weekend, with two grand slams and two doubles at Albertus.

"Ashley is very deserving of this award and I'm so proud she is being recognized," said Head Coach Anne Hennigan.

"Ashley has been a tough out at the plate all season. She has been working extremely hard at every practice improving her swing and working on her form. Ashley's offense will be a key factor for our success as we close out our regular season and look to the conference tournament."
