Softball Athletes Receive NFCA Scholar-Athlete Award

Five Softball athletes have been awarded with the 2008-09 Scholar-Athlete award by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. 2009 graduate Keely Brinchman, junior pitcher Courteney Collier (Bolton, Mass.), junior catcher Emily Nalband (Litchfield, Conn.) and junior shortstop Annie Thompson (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) each received the honor, given to student-athletes who have acquired a 3.5 GPA for the year. Sharks freshman Ari King also received the 08-09 award as a senior high school student at Westford Academy.

"I am extremely proud of Keely, Courteney, Emily and Annie," said Head Coach Anne Hennigan. "They are true competitors on the field and it is quite obvious that they apply the same effort, commitment and dedication to the classroom as they do to their sport. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule along with a competitive softball schedule is not easy, but these student-athletes know what it takes to succeed at both."
