The Simmons softball team continued its roll on Monday sweeping a pair of games over conference foe Mt. Ida.

The Sharks had their bats going in both games, taking the first one 12-0 and following up game two with a 16-5 decision.

In game one, Simmons got a terrific pitching performance from Sammi Letizio. The sophomore right hander tossed her first no hitter of the season, allowing just two baserunners, and throwing her fifth shutout of the season to improve to 15-2 on the year.

Offensively Simmons was sparked by freshman Dannie Szabo who belted a grand slam, finishing 2-3 with five RBI. Classmate Annie Thompson was 4-4 with four runs scored.

In game two the bats stayed alive, particularly in a nine run fourth inning that turned a three run game into a more comfortable margin.

Freshman Stephanie Murray had three hits and three RBI in the nightcap, as the Sharks took advantage of some Mustang miscues, and came up with timely hits.

In the circle junior Kelsey Hasick picked up her fourth win of the season going the distance and allowing five runs on five hits.

Simmons is back in action on Wednesday when they take on Albertus Magnus in a GNAC contest.
