The Simmons College softball team stayed the course on Wednesday, picking up two more wins over Albertus Magnus, by scores of 13-3 and 11-1.

In game one the Sharks got out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a three-run homer from freshman Dannie Szabo.

Albertus Magnus came back to cut their deficit to 4-3 in the third inning, but the Sharks pushed four more runs across in the home half of the third, and cruised from there.

Senior starter Natalie West twirled a gem, allowing just five hits to pick up the win. With Simmons leading by seven in the bottom of the sixth, Szabo belted her second home run of day to give Simmons a 13-3 run rule victory.

In game two the bats stayed alive as Simmons was able to push four runs across in first inning, highlighted by a three run homer off the bat of junior Sam Green.

Starter Kelsey Hasick had all she needed to keep the Magnus bats silent. She calmly worked her way out of a couple of jams, and at the end of the day she had a complete game one hitter, with nine strikeouts in just five innings of work.

West came up with a grand slam in the second game, for her sixth homer of the season, while Annie Thompson scored three runs going 2-2.

The Sharks now sit at 26-7 and in second place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. They will close out the regular season with a pair of road doubleheaders this weekend. Saturday they will travel to Hartford to take on St. Joseph (CT) and Sunday they will be in Newton to take on Lasell.
