Cross Country Places 18th at Suffolk Invitational

BOSTON – Simmons cross country was back in action this weekend at a familiar course, Franklin Park, for the Suffolk Invitational, Saturday afternoon. The Sharks finished 18th in the 22-team field.

Junior Sarah Giuliano was the first Simmons runner to cross the finish line of the 6K race, posting a time of 29:54.2. Not behind was first-year runner Kaylah Schnitzer, who ran an 8:02-minute mile to finish 107th in the 182-runner field, to finish with a time of 30 minutes exactly. 

Fellow first-year Justine Paragas placed 113th with a time of 30:28.8 just ahead of junior runner Molly Guinivan, who crossed the finish line with a time of 30:42.5. Running an 8:48-minute mile, sophomore Gabby Flaherty finished with a time of 32:50.5, while first-year Beth Pennington rounded out the Sharks with a time of 34:54.0.

Simmons will prepare for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship meet on Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m. on the campus of Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
