Simmons Welcomes Ivanchuk as Head Crew Coach

Andrii Ivanchuk has been announced as the head coach for Simmons crew by Director of Athletics Ali Kantor. 

Ivanchuk comes to Simmons with a decorated international rowing career. On the water, he is a multi-time champion and medalist for the Ukranian National Team from 2001-2014. He cracked the top-six of the European Rowing Championship in 2007 and 2009, finishing fourth and in 2008 he took sixth place in both the European Rowing and World Rowing Championships. 

He began his coaching career in the fall of 2011 at the Rowing Club "Regatta" Kyiv, training both girls and boys in the fundamentals of rowing. Five years later, he moved to the United States, where he became the varsity girls head coach at the Miami Beach Rowing Club. Under his leadership the varsity girls program won the Florida state and regional champpionships and medaled on the national stage. 

Ivanchuk also continued to compete at the US Rowing Club Nationals Championship, capturing the bronze medal in 2017 and the silver medal a year later in 2018. Additionally, he earned bronze at the Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2018.
