  • Field Hockey Sees Five Named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

    GILBERT, Ariz. – Simmons University field hockey senior Hannah Scott (Claremont, N.H.), junior Liz Poteat (Westfield, Mass.). sophomores Brianna Desharnais (Freedom, N.H.) and Haley Dover (West Springfield, Mass.) and first year Keira Straiton (Brookfield, Conn.) were all named Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholars of Distinction it was announced today by the NFHCA.

    GILBERT, Ariz. – The Simmons University field hockey team saw 16 student-athletes named to the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad, it was announced by the NFHCA. 
  • Field Hockey Earns NFHCA National Academic Team Award for 19th Straight Year

    GILBERT, Ariz. - The Simmons University field hockey team posted a 3.61 fall semester grade point average to earn the 2010 ZAG Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Collegiate National Academic Team Award it was announced today by the NFHCA. The honor marks the 19th straight year that the Sharks have earned the accolade.

    GILBERT, Ariz. – Simmons University field hockey player Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) was named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association New England East Region Second Team, it was announced today by the NFHCA. 
  • McNamara Named GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Year/First Team; Anderson, Fuzak Named First Team, Trull Tabbed Second Team

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University’s Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Year in addition to being named to the All-Conference First Team. Maggie Fuzak (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Abby Anderson (South Yarmouth, Mass.) both joined her on the First Team, while Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass.) was selected to the Second Team, it was announced today by the league. Senior Megan Pereira (New Bedford, Mass.) was chosen for the All-Sportsmanship Team. 
  • Field Hockey Falls at Lasell, 2-0, in GNAC Semifinals

    NEWTON, Mass. -- The number three seed Simmons University field hockey team was defeated by host second-seeded Lasell University, 2-0, this afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals at Grellier Field in Newton, Mass. The Sharks finish their season at 8-12, while the Lasers improve to 10-9 and advance to the GNAC Championship match for the third straight year on November 9, taking on the winner of top-seeded Saint Joseph's College (Maine) and number five seed Regis College.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) scored in the second overtime to give the number three seed Simmons University field hockey team a 4-3 victory over sixth-seeded Johnson & Wales University today in the opening round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Daly Field in Brighton, Mass.

    NEWTON, Mass. – The Simmons University field hockey team was defeated by host Lasell University, 2-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play this afternoon on Grellier Field in Newton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 7-11 overall, including 4-4 in league play, while the Lasers improve to 9-9 and 5-3 in the season finale for both teams.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- The Simmons University field hockey team was defeated by visiting Wellelsey College, 3-1, this morning on Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 7-10 on the season, while the Blue improve to 8-8.

The Sharks improve to 7-9 overall, including 4-3 in GNAC play, while the Chargers fall to 7-8 and 3-3.

The Sharks improve to 6-9 overall, including 3-3 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 1-10 and 0-6.

The Sharks improve to 5-5 overall, including 2-1 in GNAC play, while the Pride fall to 2-6 and 0-2.
