Najimy Finishes Fourth at Running Monks Invitational to Lead Cross Country

STANDISH, Maine -- First year Alice Najimy (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished fourth at the Runnin' Monks Invitational to lead the Simmons University women's cross country team to a ninth-place team finish at the SJC Cross Country Trail in Standish, Maine.

STANDISH, Maine -- First year Alice Najimy (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished fourth at the Runnin' Monks Invitational to lead the Simmons University women's cross country team to a ninth-place team finish at the SJC Cross Country Trail in Standish, Maine.

Emmanuel College won the team crown with 53 points and were led by individual champion, sophomore Pearl Vercruysse, who clocked in at 20:21.3 in the five-kilometer race. The Sharks scored 196 points for the day.

Najimy turned in a time of 20:36.2 for Simmons, while senior Hannah Green (Blandford, Mass.) placed 43rd with a time of 23:44.2. Senior Carol Figueiredo (Norwood, Mass.) crossed the finish with a mark of 24:07.1 to place 47th, while junior Gabby Freeman (Newnan, Ga.) plced 51st on a time of 24:39.0 Sophomore Chloe O'Hara (Westminster, Mass.) was steps behind her at 24:45.9 to finish 52nd and sophomore Ellen Malloy (Acton, Mass.) was a second behind her at 24:46.5, placing 53rd. Junior Amelia Franklin (Bath, Maine) rounded out the Sharks at 55th place with a time of 25:16.3
