Bohan Named GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College?s Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 18-24, it was announced today by the league. Bohan earns the honor for the second time in her career after being named the GNAC?s top runner for the week of November 7-13, 2016. 

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College's Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 18-24, it was announced today by the league. Bohan earns the honor for the second time in her career after being named the GNAC's top runner for the week of November 7-13, 2016. 

The junior shaved eight seconds off her personal-best five kilometer time with a mark of 20:02 to finish seventh overall at the 37th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. on September 23. Her time placed her fifth among collegiate competitors in the race and was the third-fastest of any Division III harrier, while helping the Sharks to a fourth-place team finish. 

For the season, the Guilford High School product has turned in a pair of top-seven efforts in as many meets. Bohan opened the season by finishing fourth with a two-mile time of 12:48 at the Roger Williams Invitational on September 2 at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. 

Simmons has posted a pair of top-four team finishes this season and will run again on Saturday, October 7 when it returns to Franklin Park to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship.
