Moriello Places 10th at 2016 USATF National Club Cross Country Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Simmons College women's cross country Assistant Coach Rosa Moriello (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed 10th at the 2016 United States of America Track & Field National Club Cross Country Women's Open Championship at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on December 10.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Simmons College women's cross country Assistant Coach Rosa Moriello (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed 10th at the 2016 United States of America Track & Field National Club Cross Country Women's Open Championship at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on December 10.

The Sharks' assistant finished the six-kilometer race with a mark of 20:00 as part of the Heartbreakers Club team from Brighton, Mass. Head Coach Eric Ashe (Hanson, Mass.) placed 29th in the Men's Open Championship with a time of 30:12 in the 10-kilometer race.

Moriello's 10th-place effort landed her a spot on Team USA's contingent that will compete at the Great Edinburgh XCountry Challenge on Saturday, January 7 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Moriello will join the top-returning American woman from 2016's challenge in Amy Val Alstine (Flagstaff, Ariz.). Alstine, the 2015 USATF Club Cross Country Champion, finished sixth overall in 2016 and will look to lead the American women in Edinburgh. A pair of Olympians will also compete for the Americans with Hillary Bor (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Marielle Hall (Haddonfield, N.J.) making the trip.
