MacLean Leads Cross Country at Seven Sisters Championship

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Graduate student Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) finished 17th to lead the Simmons College cross country team to a fifth place team finish this morning at the Seven Sisters Championship at Nehoiden Golf Course in Wellesley, Mass.

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Graduate student Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) finished 17th to lead the Simmons College cross country team to a fifth place team finish this morning at the Seven Sisters Championship at Nehoiden Golf Course in Wellesley, Mass.

Wellesley won the team championship with 42 points, while the Sharks scored 129 points in the six kilometer race. Smith senior Katherine Stephens registered a time of 22:31.2 to win the individual title.

MacLean shaved 46 seconds off her 6K time, crossing the line with a mark of 23:28.0. Sophomore Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) finished 22nd with a time of 23:57.2. Sophomore Samantha Jaffe (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and first year Emily Freeman (Haverhill, Mass.) were within steps of each other at the finish with Jaffe coming in 34th with a time of 24:40.6 and Freeman right behind with a mark of 24:41.7. First year Emily Josephson (Rochester, Mass.) placed 44th with a time of 25:10.2 to round out the scoring for Simmons.

Sophomore Carol Figueiredo (Norwood, Mass.) cut her personal-best time by 1:53, registering a mark of 27:17.4 to place 73rd, while senior Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) also set a personal-record time by three seconds at 26:45.4 to finish 68th.

First year Kearsten Pichette (Hooksett, N.H.) recorded a time of 25:20.6 to place 49th, while senior Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) finished 55th with a time of 25:36.3. Sophomore Hannah Green (Blandford, Mass.) clocked in at 26:15.4 to place 63rd, while senior Kaitlyn Maloney (Amherst, N.H.) came in 65th with a mark of 26:34.9 in her first collegiate 6K.

First year Amelia Franklin (Bath, Maine) posted a time of 28:18.7 to finish 85th, while senior Madison Rivard (Sharon, Mass.) finished 87th at 29:37.4. Senior Hannah Hast (Bow, N.H.) placed 90th with a time of 30:53.6 and sophomore Kathryn Nagle (Bangor, Maine) came in 92nd with a time of 32:35.6.

The Sharks will run again on Saturday, October 29 at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. at 1:00 p.m.
