MacLean Leads Cross Country at Seven Sisters Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Junior Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) led the Simmons College cross country team at the Seven Sisters Invitational this morning in South Hadley, Mass. The meet was hosted by Mount Holyoke College.

Wellesley College saw four runners finish in the top-10 to power the Blue to the team title at the event with 36 points, paced by the individual champion, Priyanka Fouda. Fouda (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) posted a time of 22:45 to win the title at this year's six-kilometer event.

MacLean posted a time of 26:08 as the Sharks' top finisher and placed 36th overall in her first 6K race of the season. Sophomore Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) clocked exactly one minute later to place 42nd, while sophomore Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) was right behind her with a mark of 27:27 to finish 43rd. Sophomores Mia DeLuccia (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Madison Rivard (Sharon, Mass.) were separated by one second, finishing 43rd and 44th, respectively at 27:33 and 27:34 to round out the scoring for Simmons. Junior Alicia Morales (Uxbridge, Mass.) crossed the line at 28:03 to place 48th, while senior Caroline Coughlin (Chelmsford, Mass.) came in at 49th with a time of 29:47.

The Sharks will compete again on Saturday, November 1 when they vie for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at 1:00 p.m. in Standish, Maine. The title race is hosted by Saint Joseph's College.
