11 Runners Set Personal Records for Cross Country at Wellesley Invitational

The Sharks competed head-to-head with host Wellesley College and scored 50 points to finish behind the Blue, who finished with 15 points and the top 11 runners in the race.

Junior Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) continued her remarkable campaign as Simmons' top finisher in 12th place, while smashing her personal-record mark by 29 seconds, coming in at 20:50.8 Sophomore Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) cut 42 seconds off her best time with a 21:49 showing to place 16th overall, while sophomore Mia DeLuccia (Lynnfield, Mass.) was just two ticks behind to best her own previous record by three seconds. Sophomore Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) finished 19th with a time of 22:19 for a 25-second improvement on her best, while junior Tiffany Lo (Braintree, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Sharks, clocking in at 23:44 to shave 42 seconds off her best in a 21st-place finish.

Sophomore Madison Rivard (Sharon, Mass.) lopped a minute and 24 seconds off her best time from a week ago to come in at 24:07 for 23rd place, while classmate Brie Paradis (Greenfield, Mass.) checked in at 24:22 to place 25th and clip eight seconds off her previous best. First year Kimberly Ryznal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) showed great strides bettering her previous time by 2:03 at 25:31 to come in 27th, while classmate Savannah-Nicole Villalba (Oakville, Conn.) showed the greatest improvement on the squad with a time of 26:13 to improve her mark by 2:43 to place 30th overall. Junior Courtney Hanrahan (Southampton, Mass.) also improved on her best time by 29 seconds with a time of 26:19 to finish 32nd and sophomore Emily Fowler (Chula Vista, Calif.) finished 37th and shaved 2:28 off her personal record with a time of 34:14.

Simmons will compete again on Saturday, September 27 when it runs in the 45th Annual Codfish Bowl at 11:00 a.m. at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
