Volleyball Falls at Rivier, 3-0, to Close out Regular Season

NASHUA, N.H. -- First year outside hitter Krissy Lloyd (Tampa, Fla.) smashed 10 kills to lead the Simmons University women's volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) loss to host Rivier University today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Muldoon Gymnasium in Nashua, N.H. The Sharks fall to 14-14 overall, including 7-5 in league play to close out the regular season and earn the number six seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament, while the Raiders improve to 25-6 and 11-1 and will compete as the number two seed in the GNAC Tournament. Simmons travels to New London, N.H. on Tuesday, October 30 to take on third-seeded Colby-Sawyer College at 7:00 p.m., while Rivier hosts seventh-seeded Emmanuel College (Mass.) on the same night at the same time.

Lloyd owned a .444 hitting percentage and added a dig for the Sharks. Sophomore outside hitter Riley Roberge (Peoria, Ariz.) chipped in with a six-kill effort and junior setter Kenna McCarthy (Shelter Island, N.Y.) dished out 12 helpers, while sophomore Faith Gray-Williams (Las Vegas, Nev.) also handed out double-digit assists with 10 in addition to recording three kills and four digs. Sophomore libero Julia Fusco (Beverly, Mass.) led the Sharks with 10 digs on the defensive end.

Senior Courtney Collins (Litchfield, N.H.) led the way for Rivier as she totaled eight kills and four total blocks. First year Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) also totaled eight kills and added six service aces, while junior Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) swung at a .444 clip on five kills and four total blocks. Senior Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) directed the offense with 23 assists while also contributing with five kills, five digs and five total blocks. First year Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) paced the backline with 12 digs.
