Roberge Leads Volleyball in 3-1 Loss at Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - First year outside hitter Riley Roberge (Peoria, Ariz.) registered 20 points to lead all players, including 16 kills and four aces, to lead the Simmons 
College women's volleyball team in a 3-1 loss to host Lesley University. The Sharks fall to 5-6 on the season, while the Lynx improve to 4-5.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - First year outside hitter Riley Roberge (Peoria, Ariz.) registered 20 points to lead all players, including 16 kills and four aces, to lead the Simmons College women's volleyball team in a 3-1 loss to host Lesley University. The Sharks fall to 5-6 on the season, while the Lynx improve to 4-5.

Simmons cruised in the first set, winning, 25-12, before dropping the next three sets by the exact same score of 25-22.

Roberge hit .256 for the match, fired four aces and picked up four digs for the Sharks. First year right side hitter Jarene Harberts (Naples, Fla.) and senior right side hitter Amber Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev.) each turned in double-digit kills efforts with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Harberts also added 10 digs for her team-high third double-double. Sophomore setter Kenna McCarthy (Shelter Island, N.Y.) led all players with 34 assists and also fired five aces, while first year libero Julia Fusco (Beverly, Mass.) registered a match-high 17 digs to go with four aces for Simmons.

Sophomore outside hitter Cassidy Wygonik led Lesley with 10 kills and 10 digs and senior outside hitter Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) put down seven kills and committed just one attack error. She also scooped up 11 digs and served up three aces. First year setter Tallin Goldberg recorded 26 assists in addition to four digs and an ace and was perfect with two kills in as many attack attempts. 

The Sharks return to the court tomorrow night when they host Colby-Sawyer College at 7:00 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium, while the Lynx compete in a tri-match at Mount Ida College with New England College on September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
