Tennis Defeated by Bentley, 9-0

BOSTON, Mass. ? The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Bentley University, 9-0, this afternoon at Daly Courts in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 11-8 on  the season, while the Falcons have won four of their last five matches and improve to 15-7.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Bentley University, 9-0, this afternoon at Daly Courts in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 11-8 on  the season, while the Falcons have won four of their last five matches and improve to 15-7.

Senior Rachel Hui (Hong Kong, China) combined with first year Evan Welty (Wayzata, Minn.) to defeat the Simmons sophomore duo of Nickie Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/Saint Joseph Preparatory (Mass.)) and Marissa Johnson (Norwell, Mass.), 8-2, at number one doubles and went on to down Nguyen at first singles, 6-4, 6-1. 

Sophomore Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine) was also a double-winner for Bentley, joining senior Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn.) for an 8-0 triumph at number two doubles over the Sharks tandem of senior Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.) and junior Paola Rios (Miami, Fla.). Suchanek earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles over Johnson. MacLean gained a singles win without dropping a game, taking down junior Kalen Michals (South Orange, N.J.), 6-0, 6-0. 

Senior Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas) teamed with classmate Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass.) for an 8-2 success at third doubles for the Falcons over junior Michelle Medici (South Portland, Maine) and Michals. von Oldenburg scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles over Medici as well and Kamphaus put together a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number five singles over Lakes. Senior Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn.) won at number four singles for Bentley, blanking Rios, 6-0, 6-0. 

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, April 21 when it hosts University of New Haven at 12:00 p.m., while the Falcons host Endicott College on April 15 at 12:00 p.m.
