BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women's tennis team saw three players earn a pair of wins on the day in a 9-0 victory over visiting Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match this afternoon at Daly Courts in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks have won five of their last six matches and improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 4-3 and 1-2. 

Sophomore Jessica Schroedl (Staatsburg, N.Y.) teamed with senior Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.) to earn an 8-2 victory at first doubles for Simmons over the Albertus Magnus junior tandem of Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.). Schroedl, who is 4-1 in her last five doubles matches, also cruised at number one singles with a 6-1, 6-1 effort over Weaver. 

Sophomore Nickie Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/Saint Joseph's Preparatory (Mass.)) combined with classmate Marissa Johnson (Norwell, Mass.) to post an 8-5 win at number two doubles for the Sharks over first year Jessica Coughlin (Durham, Conn.) and senior Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) for the Falcons. Nguyen was also a double-winner for Simmons, taking a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Coughlin. 

First year Celia Speth (Deerfield, Mass.) won the first of two matches on the day for the Sharks with an 8-2 doubles win at number three doubles with junior partner Paola Rios (Miami, Fla.) over sophomores Nallely Magana (East Haven, Conn.) and Paige Williams (Orange, Va.). Speth later played to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at fourth singles over Wildman and has now won five of her last six singles matches. 

Junior Michelle Medici (South Portland, Maine) was the victor at third singles for Simmons with a 6-3, 7-5 showing over Sabino, while first year Gail Tynkov (Edison, N.J.) dropped just two games in a 6-1, 4-1 victory over Magana that ended with her Albertus Magnus foe having to retire. First year Elise Kenney (Orono, Maine) dropped the first set, 6-4, at number six singles to Williams, before rebounding to win the final two sets for the Sharks, 6-1, 10-8, to improve to 3-1 in singles play for the season. 

Simmons returns to the court tomorrow when it hosts Emerson College at Daly Courts for a Noon match, while the Falcons host Suffolk University in GNAC action on September 30 at 1:00 p.m.
