Tennis Beaten by Bentley, 9-0

BOSTON, Mass. ? The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Bentley University, 9-0, this morning in a dual-match at the Daly Tennis Complex in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 7-9 on the season, while the Falcons improve to 15-9 on the season in their final dual match of the year.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Bentley University, 9-0, this morning in a dual-match at the Daly Tennis Complex in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 7-9 on the season, while the Falcons improve to 15-9 on the season in their final dual match of the year. 

Senior Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn.) was a double winner to lead Bentley. She teamed with first year Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass.) to earn an 8-1 victory at first doubles over the Simmons first year pair of Nickie Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/St. Joseph's Prep (Mass.)) and Marissa Johnson (Norwell, Mass.) . She came away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at first singles over Nguyen as well. First year Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Mass.) and junior Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas) combined to score an 8-3 victory over junior Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.) and sophomore Paola Rios (Miami, Fla.) at number two doubles. Junior Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn.) and sophomore Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y.) helped the Falcons gain a sweep in doubles action thanks to an 8-2 triumph over the Sharks' sophomore duo of Michelle Medici (South Portland, Mass.) and Laura Plaza (Mexico City, Mexico/(The Woodlands Conn. 

Petrini grinded out play at first singles to take a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ngyuen for Bentley. Medici and Lakes each won a game in each of their respective sets of their respective singles contests for Simmons against their respective opponents. Medici fell at number three singles to Rachel Hui, 6-1, 6-1, while Lakes was defeated by junior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y. by the same score at number four singles. 

Johnson took a game off of sophomore Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn.) in a 6-1, 6-0 loss at number three singles for the Sharks and Plaza won a game in a 6-0, 6-1 loss to junior Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn.). Senior Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass.) did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win for the Falcons over Rios at fifth singles. 

Simmons returns to action for its season finale on Sunday, April 23 when it hosts Endicott College at the Daly Complex at 12:00 p.m.
