Reinhard Named GNAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College women?s tennis player Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The award marks the second straight week that the Sharks have had the league's top player. Junior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) was named for Simmons last week.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women's tennis player Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The award marks the second straight week that the Sharks have had the league's top player. Junior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) was named for Simmons last week. 

The sophomore posted a combined 2-2 record in a pair of dual matches for the Sharks last week. Reinhard picked up a pair of wins in Simmons' 9-0 victory over University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in the GNAC opener on September 13. A graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (Ohio), Reinhard combined with junior Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) to take an 8-2 decision at first doubles vs. Saint Joseph and picked up her second win of the afternoon with a straight-set, 6-3, 6-0 showing at number one singles for the Sharks. 

Reinhard has played at first singles the entire season for Simmons, posting a 2-4 mark with a pair of straight set victories. The Psychology and Business major is 3-3 in doubles play as well with Downey, including a 2-3 mark at number two and a 1-0 record at first doubles. 

She owns an 11-12 career singles record, including 11-7 in dual match play and 8-3 at second singles. Reinhard is also 11-9 in doubles action, primarily at second doubles. 

The Sharks are currently 4-2 on the season, including 1-0 in GNAC play after being selected first in the GNAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The team will be in action again on Wednesday, September 17 when it heads to Cambridge, Mass. to take on Suffolk University at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols for a 5:30 p.m. match.
