GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Aine Scholand (Albuquerque, N.M.) placed 29th in the 500-yard freetyle preliminary this morning at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
Scholand turned in a time of 5:01.97 to edge first year Anna Pilecky of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point by almost a second in the morning's preliminaries. Scholand's entry in the 500-yard freestyle marks the second straight year she has competed in the NCAA Championship in the event.
The junior returns to the water tomorrow to race in the 200-yard freestyle prelimaries. The morning prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. with Scholand's competing in the fourth event of the morning.
