WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Sarah Singleton (Mission Hills, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of October 29 to November 4, it was announced today by the league.

Singleton earns the honor for the second straight week.

The first year won both individual events that she entered and helped the Sharks to a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in a quad-dual meet featuring host Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Brandeis University, Babson College and Smith College at the WPI Invitational on November 2.

A graduate of Grace Christian Academy, Singleton won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.83 and later added a triumph in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:00.53. A Neuroscience and Behavior major, Singleton has won all four races she has competed in this season with a pair of victories in the 100-yard butterfly and wins in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. The West Coast native has also contributed to relay wins in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley.

Simmons is currently 6-1 on the season in dual meet competition and will be in action again on Saturday, November 10 when it travels to Wellesley, Mass. to take on Wellesley College at 1:00 p.m.
