Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors for Fall 2017

NORFOLK, Va. ? The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team was named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, it was announced today by the organization. 

NORFOLK, Va. – The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team was named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, it was announced today by the organization. 

The Sharks were among 163 women's NCAA Division III programs honored and a record 688 men's and women's teams representing 430 colleges and universities spanning NCAA Division I, II and III institutions in addition to NAIA and NJCAA schools. The awards are in recognition of teams' that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2017 Fall Semester. The Scholar All-America Teams are named twice per year (following the fall and spring academic semesters.) Simmons has earned Scholar All-America status in each of the last 15 semesters dating back to 2010.

Simmons posted a team GPA of 3.53 and boasted 22 student-athletes with a 3.50 GPA or higher, including a quartet of competitors with a perfect 4.0. The Sharks ranked 28th out of the 163 Division III teams recognized to represent the top 17% of honored programs in the nation.  

Simmons is currently 10-2 on the season and has posted double-digit dual meet victories for the fifth straight season in addition to winning its 14th straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in December. The Sharks have also seen two school records fall this season. The team returns to the water on Saturday, January 28 when it hosts Mount Holyoke College at 12:00 p.m. at the Holmes Sports Center Natatorium on the Simmons campus in Boston, Mass.
