Swimming & Diving Lead at New England Championship Following 800-Freestyle Relay Win

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team won the 800-yard freestyle relay at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship this evening at the Tootell Aquatic Center in Kingston, R.I. to give them the most points following the first day of competition in Kingston, R.I.
Senior Sarah Price was part of the Sharks' 800-yard freestyle relay team that earned first place to give them an early lead.

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team won the 800-yard freestyle relay at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship this evening at the Tootell Aquatic Center in Kingston, R.I. to give them 64 points following the first day of competition in Kingston, R.I.

The relay was the only event of the night to begin the 2017 championship meet.

Senior Sarah Price (New York, N.Y.), sophomores Laura Simpson (Perkiomenville, Pa.) and Kerry Fleming (Northampton, Mass.) and senior Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) combined to win the 800-yard freestyle for the Sharks with a time of 7:50.47, finishing just three tenths of a second shy of tying the school record, while winning the event by seven seconds. 

Simmons returns to the pool tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to compete in the Day Two Preliminaries at the Tootell Aquatic Center.
