  • Williams Named 2016 GNAC Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year; Swisher Named Top Athlete; Simpson Rookie of Year

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College Head Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach Mindy Williams (Andover, Mass.) was named the 2015-16 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year, while Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) was voted the league’s Female Athlete of the Year and Laura Simpson (Perkiomenville, Pa.) was chosen the GNAC Rookie of the Year it was announced today by the conference. Simmons sweeps all three major awards for the first time during the Williams era at the school and becomes the first school to do it since Elms College in 2010-11.

The Sharks win their seventh straight dual meet to improve to 10-1 on the season, while the Golden Bears fall to 3-5.

    WESTON, Mass. – Sophomore Michaela Morris (Duxbury, Mass.) won a pair of events and finished with 21 points to lead the Simmons College women's swimming & diving team over host Regis College, 194-66, and Colby-Sawyer College, 190-69, this afternoon in a double-dual meet in Weston, Mass. Colby-Sawyer scored big points late in the meet and used its depth to overcome Regis, for a 129-123 victory.
