Wong Named GNAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College women?s swimmer Hillary Wong (Quincy, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Swimmer of the Week, it was announced today by the league.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women's swimmer Hillary Wong (Quincy, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, it was announced today by the league. 

Wong made quite the splash in the Sharks' opening swim meet of the season, winning a pair of events, while anchoring a winning relay squad. The senior scored 18 individual points for Simmons to lead it to a 181.5 – 97.5 victory over host Westfield State University on October 25. She finished first by seven seconds in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.70 and won the 100 free as well with a mark of 1:00.13, qualifying for the New England Championship meet in both events. A graduate of North Quincy High School, Wong also raced in the 200 free relay, anchoring the B-Relay to touch out Westfield's A-relay by two-hundreths for a second-place showing behind the Sharks' 'A' squad with a time of 1:51.53. 

Simmons is currently 1-0 on the season and will host its home opener on Saturday, November 1 in a 11:00 a.m. tri-meet with Gordon College and Elms College.
