Simmons Swimming Earns CSCAA Academic All-American Team HonorsMarch 07, 2009The Simmons swimming and diving team earned the CSCAA Academic All-American Team Award for the 2008 season, as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. In order to be named on the CSCAA All-Academic list, teams must have had a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or better during the fall 2008 term.

Arsenault Named GNAC 2008-09 Swimmer of the Year, Torelli Given Sportsmanship NodMarch 03, 2009Simmons senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season in a vote by the conference coaches. Junior Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) was also named to the All-Conference Sportsmanship team.

Williams Named GNAC 2008-09 Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the YearMarch 03, 2009Simmons Head Swimming & Diving Coach Mindy Williams has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in just her first season leading the Sharks.

Swimming & Diving 2008-09 Season In ReviewMarch 03, 2009Simmons Swimming & Diving finished the 2008-09 season with great success in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and some hard-fought battles outside the conference. The Sharks roster carried five divers, the most in program history, which gave the team a lift in tough dual-meet competition. Simmons ended the season with a GNAC Championship title for the fifth year in a row, and a GNAC meet record in the 1650-yard Freestyle from departing senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.), who was also named the GNAC Swimmer of the Year for the second straight season.

Two Athletes Receive Honor Roll Mention in Final Week of SeasonFebruary 27, 2009Simmons Basketball junior Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) and Swimming sophomore Chennelle Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) received Great Northeast Athletic Conference honor roll mention for their efforts in the last week of winter competition.

Simmons in 12th Place After First Day at New England ChampionshipsFebruary 21, 2009The Sharks returned to the pool at UMass Dartmouth on Friday evening for the finals on day one of the New England Swimming & Diving Championships. After the first full day of competition, Simmons stands in 12th place out of 21 teams.

Arsenault Named GNAC Swimmer of the WeekFebruary 03, 2009Senior Swimming & Diving captain Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the GNAC announced on Monday. This is the third time Arsenault has received the Swimmer of the Week award since the start of the 2008-09 season.

Swimming & Diving Rocks Regis, 112-68February 03, 2009Simmons Swimming & Diving secured a win over Regis College on Tuesday, 112-68, in a dominant fashion, proving they have been hard at work under first-year Head Coach Mindy Williams. With the win, the Sharks improve to 5-5 as they approach the end of the season, and with it, the New England Championships on February 20-22, 2009.

Three GNAC Records Fall as Simmons is Crowned 2008 Swimming & Diving ChampionsDecember 07, 2008Simmons College Swimming & Diving was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion of 2008. The win, Simmons’ fifth in a row, and seventh in eight years, capped the two-day meet where three GNAC records and two pool records fell. More than 100 athletes from the conference’s seven teams gathered at the Simmons College Holmes Sports and Fitness Center to race for the championship title.
