Caitlin Schimmel is entering her seventh season as the Assistant
Soccer Coach at Simmons College. Schimmel’s duties include
assisting in planning training sessions, game day management and
recruiting. She is also responsible for tracking game data and
scouting opponents. “There is a direct correlation of the
addition of Schimmel to the women’s soccer staff and the
program’s success,"says Head Coach Erica Mastrogiacomo. "She
has provided consistency and excellent soccer knowledge while
maintaining an approachable personality that is well received by
the team. Her work with our defensive line has proven successful.
She is a valuable and crucial member of the Simmons Soccer
program.”
Schimmel played at Community College of Rhode Island for two years
and continued her career at Rhode Island College for two years. She
was named captain at both schools, and also earned regional honors.
She ranks among the school’s leaders in both points in a
season and assists in a season at RIC. Schimmel received the Helen
Murphy Award for the top female Student-Athlete, and was nominated
for NCAA Woman of the Year award in 2003.
In November 2006, Schimmel was inducted into the Cumberland High
School Hall of Fame and recognized for her contributions. Schimmel
was a member of the first-ever female soccer program at Cumberland
High School in Cumberland, RI after playing on the boys’ team
as a freshman.
Schimmel graduated from Rhode Island College in 2002 with a degree
in Psychology. She currently works as a Project Manager for Orion
RED and resides in Cumberland, RI.
