Soccer Slips at Albertus Magnus, 2-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior midfielder Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) tallied the lone goal for the Simmons University women's soccer team in a 2-1 loss to host Albertus Magnus College this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match in New Haven, Conn. The Sharks fall to 7-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play, while the Falcons improve to 3-8-0 and 2-6-0. 

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior midfielder Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) tallied the lone goal for the Simmons University women's soccer team in a 2-1 loss to host Albertus Magnus College this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match in New Haven, Conn. The Sharks fall to 7-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play, while the Falcons improve to 3-8-0 and 2-6-0. 

Each team netted a goal in the opening half for a 1-1 intermission score, while Simmons owned a 10-4 shot advantage in the half and a 16-11 margin for the game. The Sharks also claimed a 6-4 difference in corner kicks.

Albertus Magnus first year forward Jordan Kikosicki (East Haven, Conn.) scored in the 84th minute to give the home team the eventual winning marker with her third goal of the season at 83:44.

The Falcons opened the scoring at the 16:25 mark of the first half when senior midfielder Kerrigan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) netted her second goal of the year for a 1-0 lead.

Forde pulled Simmons even with 6:46 remaining in the first half with her team-high 11th goal of the season to make it 1-1.

Senior goalie Lauren Williams (Bowdoinham, Maine) stopped a pair of shots for the Sharks, while senior keeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made 11 saves to earn the victory for Albertus Magnus. 

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, October 13 when it hosts GNAC opponent Norwich University on Senior Day at 11:00 a.m., while the Falcons host Rivier University on the same day at 1:00 p.m.
