Elliott Scores Twice to Fuel Soccer over Rivier, 3-0

NASHUA, N.H. - Junior forward Mikayla Elliott (Nashua, N.H.) netted a pair of goals to lead the Simmons College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over host Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match this afternoon at Raider Field in Nashua, N.H. The Sharks have won four straight and extend their unbeaten string to five consecutive matches and improve to 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in league play, while the Raiders fall to 1-6-1 and 0-5-1.

The Sharks have won four straight and extend their unbeaten string to five consecutive matches and improve to 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in league play, while the Raiders fall to 1-6-1 and 0-5-1.

Simmons dominated possession in the match, holding a 26-6 shot margin, including 22-4 in the first half. The Sharks also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Elliott gave Simmons a 2-0 lead with her first goal of the afternoon coming on a feed from senior midfielder Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) in the 30th minute of play. The pair repeated their effort when Gammon found Elliott for her second goal of the day and fifth of the season at 61:08 of the second half. The second marker gave Elliott her second multiple-goal outing in as many matches.

Sophomore midfielder Kristen Mihalich (East Rockaway, N.Y.) put the Sharks on the board just 2:31 into the match when she netted her first collegiate goal.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.) paced the Rivier offense with four shots, including three on frame.

Senior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) recorded her seventh career shutout with three saves for Simmons, while senior goalie Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) matched her season high with 14 stops for the Raiders.
