BOSTON, Mass. – Three different players scored for the Simmons College women's soccer team in a 3-0 victory over visiting Emmanuel College this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 3-5-1 overall, including 2-2-0 in league play, while the Saints fall to 4-7-1 and 1-2-1.

Simmons owned a 7-4 advantage on corners kicks, while each team attempted 14 shots.

The Sharks opened the scoring at 11:15 of the first half to take a 1-0 edge. Sophomore midfielder Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) sent a lead cross to classmate Mikayla Elliott (Lowell, Mass.), who made a move to freeze the Emmanuel keeper after she had come off her line, and dribbled past her before putting the ball in the back of the net for her second score of the season. Simmons increased its lead to 2-0 just under seven minutes later when junior forward Gabrielle Klane (Franklin, Mass.) lifted a centering cross from the right side of the box to classmate Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.), who redirected the pass with a header for her second tally of the year at the 18:11 mark.

The Sharks went into the half with a 2-0 lead before scoring the final marker of the night in the 81st minute. First year forward Rachel Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) carried the ball down the left side, before unleashing a shot that snuck just inside the near post for her third goal of the season and a 3-0 Simmons lead with 9:05 left in the match.

Senior forward Courtney Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Kayla Generis (Wethersfield, Conn.) each attempted four shots to lead the Saints' attack. Freadman threatened to score at the 60:33 mark of the second half when she lifted a shot that deflected off the left post and over the net.

Junior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) posted her fourth career shutout with five saves, while junior Victoria LaRoche (Hudson, N.H.) made eight saves in 84:25 of action for Emmanuel.

The Sharks return to the pitch on Saturday, October 1 when they host GNAC rival Suffolk University at Daly Field for an 11:00 a.m. start, while the Saints head to New Haven, Conn. to take on Albertus Magnus College on the same day at 1:00 p.m.
