Soccer Falls at Wheaton, 2-0

BOSTON, Mass. ? Senior midfielder Allison Bondi (Macomb, Mich.) netted her first Division III goal and junior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) made nine saves to lead the Simmons College women?s soccer team in a 1-1 tie with visiting Lesley University this afternoon on Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks are now 0-1-1 on the season, while the Lynx are now 1-0-1. 

NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of play to defeat visiting Simmons College this afternoon at Mirrione Stadium in Norton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 1-3-1 on the season, while the Lyons extend their winning streak to six straight to open the season at 6-0-0.

NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of play to defeat visiting Simmons College this afternoon at Mirrione Stadium in Norton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 1-3-1 on the season, while the Lyons extend their winning streak to six straight to open the season at 6-0-0.

Wheaton outshot Simmons, 27-4, and held a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks. 

Both teams were scoreless through 75 minutes of play until Lyons' first year midfielder Aymara O'Brien-Pappalardo (Easton, Conn.) uncorked a shot from the right side that hit the left post and crossed the goal line for a 1-0 edge and her first collegiate goal at 75:08.

Wheaton added an insurance marker with 6:15 left to play in the match when junior midfielder Megan Healy (Huntington, N.Y.) netted her team-high sixth goal of the season. The goal came on a corner kick from junior forward Carly Costello (Holyoke, Mass.) that she sent into the box, where first year forward Noelle Perciballi (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) one touched it to Healy, who blasted it into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Junior forward Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.), senior midfielder Alison Bondi (Macomb, Mich.) and sophomore midfielder Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) each put a shot on goal for the Sharks.

Junior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) stopped seven shots for Simmons, while sophomore goalie Leann Wolf (Santa Maria, Calif.) earned her 11th career shutout with three saves for the Lyons.

The Sharks return to the pitch when they head to New Haven, Conn. on Saturday, September 17 to take on Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Albertus Magnus College for a 1:00 p.m. match, while Wheaton hosts Maine Maritime Academy on the same day at 3:00 p.m.
