Soccer Edged in Overtime at Smith, 2-1

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Junior forward Gabrielle Klane (Franklin, Mass.) netted the lone goal for the Simmons College women's soccer team in a 2-1 overtime loss at host Smith College today in Northampton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-2-1 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 2-0-1.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Junior forward Gabrielle Klane (Franklin, Mass.) netted the lone goal for the Simmons College women's soccer team in a 2-1 overtime loss at host Smith College today in Northampton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-2-1 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 2-0-1.

Smith outshot Simmons, 22-11, and owned an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Junior forward Jordan Isaacs (Weston, Conn.) gave the Pioneers a 2-1 victory with her third goal of the season coming 6:52 into the first overtime period.

Klane cracked the scoring column for Simmons when junior forward Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) found her at 21:17 of the first half on a two-on-one situation for her first tally of the year. 

First year midfielder Krissy Williams (Stockbridge, Mass.) knotted the score at 1-1 for Smith when she collected a rebound for a putback that resulted in her third marker of the season with 6:58 remaining in the opening half.

Junior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) stopped eight shots for the Sharks, while junior goalie Camryn Biasin (Lee, Mass.) turned away all five shots she faced in the final 51:52 of play to earn the win for the Pioneers. Starting keeper Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) turned back four of five shots that she faced on net in the opening half for Smith.

The Sharks return to the pitch on Saturday, September 10 when they open the Great Northeast Athletic Conference slate vs. visiting Rivier University at 12:00 p.m. as part of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and celebration to officially open Daly Field. The Pioneers will play again on the same day when they travel to Bryn Mawr, Pa. to take on Bryn Mawr College at 1:00 p.m.
