Eusebio Leads Soccer over Suffolk, 4-0

BOSTON, Mass. ? Junior midfielder Alexis Eusebio (Dartmouth, Mass.) tallied three points, including a goal, to lead the Simmons College women?s soccer team over visiting Suffolk University, 4-0, today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks have won four of their last five games and improve to 7-6-2 overall and 6-3-0 in league play, while the Rams fall to 4-7-3 and 3-3-3.

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior midfielder Alexis Eusebio (Dartmouth, Mass.) tallied three points, including a goal, to lead the Simmons College women's soccer team over visiting Suffolk University, 4-0, today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks have won four of their last five games and improve to 7-6-2 overall and 6-3-0 in league play, while the Rams fall to 4-7-3 and 3-3-3. 

Simmons controlled the match with a 27-6 shot count and scored two goals in each half. 

Eusebio sent a leading cross into the box where first year forward Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) controlled it before depositing a shot into the left corner for her third goal of the season at 24:42 of the first half for a 2-0 Sharks advantage. Eusebio increased the Simmons lead to 3-0, just over five minutes into the second half, when she fired a shot from 20 yards into the left corner for her second marker of the year at 50:26. 

Junior midfielder Ali Berkman (Natick, Mass.) put the Sharks on the board at the 8:57 mark of the opening half. She carried the ball into the Suffolk defensive zone and weaved her way through a number of Suffolk defenders, before sending a shot from 10 yards out into the right corner for her fourth tally of the season. 

Sophomore midfielder Elise Nothacker (Philadelphia, Pa.) capped the Simmons' scoring with an insurance goal at 74:55 of the second half. She notched her second goal of the season when she lifted a free kick, from 30 yards out, over the keeper's reach and into the far right post for a 4-0 cushion. 

Junior keeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) earned the victory with two saves in 55:17 minutes of action for the Sharks, before yielding to first year goalie Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) for the final 34:43. Halle's only save came when she stopped a point blank shot from Rams' first year forward Erika Nelson (Peabody, Mass.) with just under 20 minutes to go in the match. Senior goalie Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) turned away 10 shots for Suffolk. 

Simmons will be in action again on Wednesday, October 22 when it hosts GNAC foe Norwich University in its final regular-season home match at 7:00 p.m. on Winsor Field, while the Rams travel o Albertus Magnus College on October 22 for a 3:30 tilt.
