BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's soccer team scored twice in each half in a 4-1 victory over host Simmons College this evening at Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Lynx improve to 5-1-0 on the season, while the Sharks fall to 1-4-2.

Senior forward Alexis Giusti's (Meridian, Calif.) first tally of the night came 18:10 into the contest when junior forward Samantha Rapant (Pittsfield, Mass.) fired a shot off the cross bar that Giusti corralled and put into the back of the net for a 1-0 Lesley lead. Simmons answered just over three minutes later when junior midfielder Alexis Eusebio (Dartmouth, Mass.) took advantage of the Lynx keeper coming off her line and deposited a shot into the right corner from the top of the box to knot the match at 1-1. The score came at 21:45 and was the first marker of the year for Eusebio.

Junior back Isabella Vidaña (San Marcos, Calif.) gave Lesley a lead it would not relinquish at the 35:34 mark of the opening half when she lifted a perfectly placed shot from 25 yards out into the upper left corner to make it 2-1.

The second half was scoreless through the first 23-plus minutes until senior forward Marysol Flores (Pico Rivera, Calif.) also connected with a long strike from 30 yards out. She found the back of the net in the top right corner at 68:50 to give the visitors a 3-1 margin. Giusti capped the night's scoring for the Lynx, taking a short cross from Flores in the box and converting it into her second score of the evening and fourth of the season at 77:06 for a 4-1 advantage.

First year keeper Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) earned her first collegiate victory, stopping six of seven shots in the first half, before junior goalie Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) closed out the match, making four saves in the second stanza for Lesley. Junior Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) turned away five shots for the Sharks.

Simmons will be in action again when it travels to Standish, Maine to take on Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Saint Joseph's College on Saturday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m., while the Lynx travel to Waltham, Mass. to play Brandeis University on the same day at 2:00 p.m.
