BOSTON, Mass. -- On Sunday, April 13th Simmons Soccer held its annual alumnae game. The Sharks welcomed alumnae from as far back as the Class of 1999 as they joined the current senior class to compete against the returning team.
The match kicked off at 11:00a.m. on the Winsor School Field and it was the current Simmons team that scored first. Rookie Elise Nothacker (Philadelphia, Pa.) sent an excellent service from the left flank that found the head of a diving Alexis Eusebio (Dartmouth, Mass.) to put the team up 1-0. It wouldn't be until the second half when graduating senior, Desh Perera (Reading Mass.) would collect a pass on the right flank from her outside midfield position. She got to the endline and served the ball across the penalty area that found former teammate, Ally Ayotte (Litchfield, N.H.) that one times it past sophomore goalkeeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.). The alumnae put another over the goal line but it was rightfully called offsides. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
"The alumnae game has become one of my favorite parts of spring season. Getting the alumnae back on campus and hearing about how successful they have become in their careers and how much their experience as an athlete has benefitted them in life after graduation makes me very proud," said Head Coach Erica Schuling.
This event is a great way for the current student-athletes to network with our alumnae; many of whom are working in the field in which our athletes are aspiring to be.
