BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Soccer fell to the Albertus Magnus Falcons, 1-0 Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference battle. After a scoreless 80 minutes of play, Meaghan Skidmore broke the stalemate for the win.

The shots were even in the first half at 10 apiece as both teams settled into their game plans. Simmons senior Kristyn Heuslein (Manchester, N.H.) drilled a free kick just high of the Falcons net at 25:12 and Simmons goalkeeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) made a diving save off a shot by Amanda Roke to keep the game scoreless.

In the second half, Ali Berkman (Natick, Mass.) had a quality chance that was blocked by a Falcons defender and Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) sent a shot just wide of Falcons keeper Maria Case. With ten minute remaining, Meaghan Skidmore sent a high shot over the Sharks defense, with just enough speed to find the edge of the cage for the 1-0 lead.

Desh Perera (Reading, Mass.) tested Case in the final minutes but the Falcons maintained the lead as time expired.

With the win, Albertus Magnus moves to 9-3-2 (6-1 GNAC), while the Sharks fall to 6-7 (3-4 GNAC). Hayes made 15 saves in the loss, while Case stopped all 13 shots for the win.
