Molly Devilbiss was named the Simmons University Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach in August of 2018.

In just two years, Devilbiss has already compiled an impressive resume. She has put together a 14-8 (.636) win-loss record, which included a 4-1 record in 2020 to mark the best start to a season in school history. In addition to the Sharks impressive run to open the season, Devilbiss' ability to evaluate talent and recruit quality players was validated when three different newcomers, in as many weeks, earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors to mark the first time in conference history that one school had three different rookies claim the award during one season. Prior to Simmons having its season prematurely come to an end due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Sharks were on pace to break every team school record.

Devilbiss presided over an unprecedented season for a first-year coach at Simmons in 2019, leading the Sharks to a 10-7 record, including 7-4 in GNAC play, to match the school record for regular season and conference victories. The Simmons field general had a knack for keeping her team motivated late in games, despite facing a deficit, recording six comeback victories. She directed the Sharks to overcome a late three-goal deficit and come away with a 10-9 overtime road win in the GNAC Championship Tournament to advance to the league semifinals. Devilbiss also oversaw the biggest comeback in school history, guiding Simmons to a 15-13 win, after facing a six-goal deficit with just over 17 minutes to play in the second half to show the resiliency of her charges. She coached a program-record five All-Conference honorees in her first campaign with the Sharks to reward a coaching style that is driven by teaching the skills of the game.

Prior to her arrival in Boston, Devilbiss served as an Assistant Coach for Frostburg State University for three seasons, including her last two as the program’s top assistant. 

During her tenure with the Bobcats, Devilbiss coached against 12 nationally-ranked opponents, but still managed to help Frostburg State to a pair of six-win seasons in her first two years as well as an appearance in the Capital Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. 

In just her second season, the Bobcats led the CAC in assists per game (6.82), draw controls (14.94) and points (18.94). They also finished second in ground balls per game (18.76), third in scoring offense (12.12) and fourth in caused turnovers per game (8.47). The team ranked second among conference leaders in free position goals (36) and third in clears (195) in 2018 and placed third in the conference in free position goals (13), free position percentage (31.7) and clears (89-of-136) in her initial campaign with FSU. 

Devilbiss served the youth lacrosse community as an Assistant Coach for the 2021 Renegades Lacrosse Club in 2016. 

A four-year women’s lacrosse player at Messiah College, Devilbiss graduated with a bachelor’s of arts degree in Psychology. As a two-time All-Commonwealth Conference defender, Devilbiss tallied 11 goals and nine assists while picking up 98 ground balls, winning 49 draws and causing 44 turnovers during her career. Devilbiss helped the Falcons to a 51-23 record and a number nine end of the season national-ranking during her time at the school. She was named the 2015 Middle Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year and was also selected to play in the prestigious IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game. 

Devilbiss spent time as a coach for the Messiah Women’s Lacrosse Camps and Clinics during her four years of college. She also served as a member of two mission’s teams that traveled to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica through Messiah’s sports ministry program AROMA. 

In addition to her lacrosse experience, Devilbiss spent eight summers at the Westminster City Recreation Camp, which included a stint as the camp’s Director for two seasons. 

Devilbiss also holds a Master’s degree in Education-School Counseling from Frostburg State.
