Grand Lake, Colo. - The Simmons College Women's Lacrosse Team was presented with the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) 2014 Academic Honor Squad Award, it was recently announced by the IWLCA.
The IWLCA recognized 256 schools from NCAA Divisions I, II and III as earning Academic Honor Squad honors for the 2014 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Simmons lacrosse is among 125 Division III programs to earn the accolade and one of just three Great Northeast Athletic Conference schools to be named.
The Sharks finished the 2014 campaign with a 7-7 overall record, including 6-4 in GNAC play. Simmons advanced to the quarterfinals of the GNAC Tournament, before bowing out with an 11-9 loss at Norwich University on April 22.
