Sharks Upended by Cadets, 12-3

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Lacrosse fell to the visiting Norwich University Cadets, 12-3 Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Sharks, who fall to .500 on the season, had goals by Ashley Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.), Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) and Ali Stonehouse (Keene, N.H.).

The Sharks, who fall to .500 on the season, had goals by Ashley Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.), Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) and Ali Stonehouse (Keene, N.H.).

 

The Cadets (2-1, 2-1 GNAC) took a quick two-goal lead as Hope Royce and Baylie Lamarre beat Sharks goalkeeper Crystal Derosier (Kingston, Mass.). Stonehouse cut the lead to one but Norwich scored three straight for the 5-1 lead. Gilbert and Sheehan found the back of the net for the Sharks but Grace Fitzpatrick scored her second of the game to close out the half with a 7-3 Cadets lead.

 

Norwich continued their run in the second half, as the Sharks were plagued by turnovers. Chapel Guarnieri scored twice, while Royce, Fitzpatrick and Lamarre each added their third for a 12-3 victory.

 

The Sharks held a 11-6 advantage in draw controls but the Cadets outshot the hosts 30-19 and held a 20-16 advantage in groundballs.

 

Simmons returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 8 at the University of Saint Joseph, while Norwich hosts Lasell on Apr. 3 at 4:00 PM as GNAC action continues.
