  • Lacrosse 2010 Season In Review

    Simmons Lacrosse closes out its second season as a varsity sport after achieving a 6-6 overall record and going 4-4 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Sharks continued to build the lacrosse program with several returners and a large class of first-year athletes under second-year Head Coach Kate Leonard. Four athletes were named to the GNAC All-Conference Team, three received Rookie of the Week and one received Goalkeeper of the Week honors during the season.
  • Four Sharks Named to Lacrosse GNAC All-Conference Team

    Four Simmons Lacrosse players received end of the season All-Conference honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Freshman attacker Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) earned a spot on the First Team, while teammates, junior attacker Natalie Stever (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), freshman midfielder Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, N.H.) and junior defender Kayla Tirrell (Lincoln, R.I.) all were voted to the Second Team.
  • Wallace Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

    Simmons lacrosse freshman Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the GNAC announced Tuesday. The honor was awarded after Wallace helped the Sharks to a 2-0 week in the conference.

    Freshman Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, N.H.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the GNAC announced Monday night.
  • Sharks Stopped by Lions, 13-3

    Simmons Lacrosse fell 13-3 to Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Emerson College on Saturday at The Winsor School Fields. The Lions' Maeghan Ross scored 6 goals and 5 assists, proving too much for the Sharks’ defensive game. With the loss, Simmons falls to 3-5 overall, 1-4 GNAC, while Emerson improves to 5-3 overall, 5-1 GNAC.
  • Sharks Fall to Undefeated Monks, 18-13

    Simmons Lacrosse was unable to topple undefeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Saint Joseph’s Maine (7-0-1, 4-0 GNAC), falling 18-13 to the Monks on Wednesday afternoon. Senior midfielder Lauren Hagerman paced the Monks with four goals and three assists in the triumph. The Sharks are now 3-4 overall, 1-3 in the GNAC.

    Simmons freshman Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the GNAC announced Monday evening.
  • Sharks Smash Rivier, 21-11

    Simmons Lacrosse earned another Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory Friday night at home over Rivier College, besting the Raiders 21-11. Senior Emily Sypher (Orono, Maine) scored five goals and two assists to lead the Sharks to the win. Simmons now stands 2-3 on the season (1-2 GNAC) while the Raiders fall to 0-4 (0-2 GNAC) with the loss.
  • Sharks Fall to Cadets, 15-6

    The Cadets of Norwich University held off host Simmons College in Sunday’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference lacrosse game. The Cadets earned an early 5-0 lead they would never relinquish, ending the contest with the 15-6 win over the Sharks. Simmons now stands 1-3 on the season, 0-2 GNAC, while Norwich advance to 2-3, 2-0 GNAC.
  • Lasers Stop Sharks, 20-12

    Simmons Lacrosse lost a three-goal advantage at the start of the second half to fall to Lasell College, 20-12, Thursday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse competition.
  • Sharks Win Home Opener Over Amcats, 16-10

    After a tentative first half, Simmons Lacrosse outscored Anna Maria College 10-4 in the second half to secure the 16-10 win at home on Monday night. Freshman Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, N.H.) scored six goals and one assist to lead the Sharks to victory. With the win, Simmons advances to 1-1 on the season, while Anna Maria falls to 1-5 overall.
  • Lacrosse Opens Spring Season in Florida

    Simmons Lacrosse opened the 2010 season in West Palm Beach, Fla. with an 18-9 loss to non-conference opponent Vassar College. The Sharks start the season 0-1, while the Brewers' final spring training game leaves them at 2-1 on the season.
  • Lacrosse 2010 Season Preview

    Simmons Lacrosse will begin its second year as a varsity program on March 11, when the Sharks compete in the West Palm Beach, Fla. Spring Fling tournament. Simmons went 2-4 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and 3-8 overall in 2009, narrowly missing a spot in the post-season conference tournament in their inaugural season. The Sharks are looking to step up their level of play in 2010 and make a mark in the conference.
  • Lacrosse Sends Letters to Soldiers

    Simmons Lacrosse sponsored their second annual Letters to Soldiers event in the Fens on Thursday, December 10. The team provided crafts materials and postage for members of the Simmons community to send cards to troops overseas for the holidays.
